Provectus Recruitment are currently partnered with a leading manufacturing organisation in the UK, that design & manufacture large-scale rotating machinery, used for power generation.
This is a business that has manufactured rotating power-gen equipment for many years. They are currently going through a period of cultural change & modernisation, as well as driving technical innovation within the power-gen sector. A business that has a very established brand & some of the most reliable and efficient power-generation equipment there is to offer.
The Role
Due to business restructure, acquisition, and merger, we are seeking a Head of Operations, to run the entire manufacturing facility of around 80 people in Peterborough. This role will focus on providing effective, visible, and inspirational leadership, as a member of the Senior Management team for the business.
Running the entire factory, this person will champion health & safety, continuous improvement, ensuring machinery is manufactured on-time, to the specified quality levels and to the right cost.
- Ensure and uphold highest levels of safety and wellbeing across the entire business, ensuring a Zero accident culture.
- Ensure that quality, health and safety and environmental assurance are maintained and that a behavioural approach is embedded across the organisation.
- Provide leadership to Apprentices, Production Engineering, Fabrication, Machining, Assembly & test.
- Develop high-performing teams, focusing on the development and empowerment of the people.
- Proactively ensure business manufacturing needs are met, by identifying training, skills, and apprentice management
- Understand customer’s requirements and support the development of future business opportunities and strategic relationships.
- Propose and justify key strategic partnerships with suppliers and business partners to improve operational performance.
- Set & achieve performance targets, prioritising plans within manufacturing and the wider business.
- Ensure machinery and equipment in the workplace is maintained and properly managed to reduce waste and increase productivity.
- Create and maintain visual management forecasting, planning & control all processes to support S&OP and ensure effective balance.
- Support the process for budget establishment and maintaining budgets within department.
- Champion continuous improvement, implementing and operating within LEAN, Six Sigma, Kaizen principles.
Candidate Profile
We are looking for a “Businessperson”, someone that is commercial, takes ownership of business operations as if it is their own business. Someone who leads, can develop long-standing relationships at all levels & can effectively communicate and manage a diverse manufacturing/operations environment.
This business manufacture large-scale, heavy, complex machinery. Thus, experience with systems of a similar size or experience within a machining environment would be a great advantage.
- High-level academics in a relevant engineering, manufacturing, or managerial related subject/s
- Highly experienced in operations management of a manufacturing business in a complex engineering environment.
- Proven ability to manage and deliver both new build and aftermarket products.
- Highly experienced leading large teams including coaching, developing, and recruiting team members.
- Demonstrated experience of implementing and operating Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma and Kaizen principles
- Consultive mindset, ensuring work is completed to the highest calibre.
Role includes 15% bonus, capped at 250%, + £5500 per annum Car Allowance
